How Choice Point Works

You may already know what to do. We help your family do it when anxiety is high.

Choice Point is a 90-day coaching program for anxious, avoidant teens and their parents. We help families close the gap between understanding anxiety and creating real forward movement in everyday life.

More insight isn't always the answer.

Most families we work with have already done a lot. Therapy. School meetings and accommodations. Medication. Books, podcasts, coping skills, and more conversations than anyone can count.

You understand anxiety. The breakdown happens when it shows up for real: your teen avoids, shuts down, spirals, or asks for reassurance again, and everyone gets pulled toward whatever brings relief fastest.

That moment is where we work.

Choice Point is the implementation layer.

We focus on the gap between "I know what I'm supposed to do" and actually doing it when anxiety is high.

Choice Point does not replace therapy, psychiatry, school supports, or other clinical care. We work alongside them, so what your family already knows starts showing up in daily life.

The goal is simple: from avoidance to forward movement.

The Stuck Cycle

The cycle that keeps both of you stuck

Two loops feeding each other. Neither one is wrong, and both make complete sense. Together, they keep the pattern going.

Your teen's loop

The false alarm

1 · Thought"I can't do this. Something is wrong with me."
2 · FeelingAnxiety floods the body. The thinking brain shuts off.
Repeats every time
4 · ResultThe belief is reinforced. The loop gets stronger.
3 · ActionShut down. Avoid. Fight back. Disappear.

Your loop

The rescue reflex

1 · Thought"I don't know what to do. I just want this to stop."
2 · FeelingAlarm. Fear. Frustration. Helplessness. Guilt.
Repeats every time
4 · ResultTheir distress comes down, and so does your alarm. Avoidance gets reinforced.
3 · ActionPush harder. Back off. Accommodate. Walk on eggshells.
The short-term relief is real. That's exactly why the cycle is so sticky.

How we change the cycle

We work with both sides of the pattern

Your teen's side and yours, at the same time.

Coaching for your teen and for you

Teen coaching

Practical coaching around what's happening in your teen's life right now: school, setbacks, perfectionism, friendships, boundaries, work, college plans, driving, and growing independence. The focus is learning what to do next when anxiety says "I can't."

Parent coaching

Help knowing when to validate and when to hold the expectation, when to step in and when to step back, and how to respond when your teen refuses. You can stop walking on eggshells and support your teen without becoming their 24/7 regulation system.

What 90 days looks like

We start by defining forward movement in specific terms you can see. "Less anxiety" is too vague to work toward. Goals families often choose include:

  • School and responsibilities: participating in school more consistently, applying for a job, managing their own appointments

  • Friends and social life: making plans with friends and following through, hanging out with friends outside of school, joining or returning to a sport, club, or activity

  • Family and getting out: leaving the house to do something with family or friends

  • Resilience and independence: recovering after critical feedback instead of shutting down, setting a boundary with a friend, needing fewer repeated check-ins with a parent

Then we work toward those goals together:

  • An individualized roadmap for your family, with 30, 60, and 90-day milestones

  • A weekly action plan, so you always know the next step

  • Coaching for your teen

  • Coaching for you

  • Support between sessions, when the hard moments actually happen

  • Progress tracking, so everyone can see what's changing

We don't provide therapy. Therapy can still be part of your teen's team.

Choice Point is coaching. We don't provide therapy, diagnosis, or clinical treatment, and we don't replace the therapist, psychiatrist, or school team your teen may already have.

If your teen has a therapist, that therapist can be an important part of their support team. Therapy may focus on emotional processing, diagnosis, or clinical care. Our focus is implementation. The question we keep coming back to is: "What are we doing differently this week because of what we know?"

Choice Point provides evidence-informed coaching and educational support. It is not a substitute for therapy or medical treatment.

Is Choice Point a fit for your family?

Choice Point may be a good fit if:

  • Anxiety or avoidance keeps getting in the way of school, relationships, or other important parts of life

  • Insight hasn't consistently turned into different behavior

  • No matter what approach you try, it doesn't seem to work or stick

  • Your family keeps ending up back in the same cycle

  • You're open to looking at your own responses as part of the change

  • You want active, practical coaching focused on forward movement

Coaching is not therapy, crisis care, or a higher level of clinical treatment. If we don't think Choice Point is the right fit for your family, we'll tell you.
