Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from therapy?
Choice Point Coaching is not a replacement for therapy.
Many families come to us already engaged in therapy or other clinical supports. Coaching focuses on bridging insight into daily life — what happens between sessions, on school mornings, during transitions, and when avoidance shows up in real time.
We support:
Daily routines and follow-through
Distress tolerance in real-world situations
Parent responses that reduce power struggles
Coordination across the systems supporting your child
Therapy builds insight.
Coaching helps life work.
Who is this coaching a good fit for?
This work is best suited for families whose lives are being actively disrupted by anxiety or avoidance.
It’s often a strong fit if:
Your child is missing school or struggling to access it consistently
Anxiety or avoidance is shaping daily routines
Parents are carrying the emotional and logistical load
Therapy has helped, but daily functioning is still hard
You want coordinated, hands-on support for the whole system
What if my child doesn’t want help or is resistant?
This is very common, and it doesn’t mean coaching won’t be helpful.
Much of our work focuses on:
Reducing power struggles
Shifting parent-child dynamics
Creating structure that supports engagement
Helping teens build tolerance gradually, not through force
Progress often begins with changes in the system, not immediate buy-in from the child.
How long do families usually work with you?
Most families work with us for 3–6 months, depending on the level of avoidance, stress, and system complexity.
The goal is meaningful, sustainable change, not quick fixes.
Is this a significant investment?
Yes. This is a meaningful investment because the support is intensive and comprehensive.
Families aren’t paying for sessions alone.
They’re investing in relief, structure, and support that helps life move out of crisis mode and toward functioning again.
The exact investment is discussed during a consult so families can fully understand what’s included and decide if it’s the right fit.
Do you work with schools and other providers?
Yes.
Coaching is most effective when everyone is aligned. We collaborate with:
Schools
Therapists
Other providers involved in your child’s care
So families aren’t coordinating everything on their own and expectations are consistent across settings.
What does progress actually look like?
Progress doesn’t mean anxiety disappears.
Families often notice:
Mornings that feel calmer and more manageable
Teens doing things they weren’t doing before, even when anxious
Fewer power struggles around routines
Improved school access over time
Parents feeling supported instead of holding everything alone
Progress is gradual, but it’s felt.
What happens during a consult?
A consult is a conversation, not a sales call.
We’ll talk about:
What’s happening in your family
What you’ve already tried
Where things feel stuck
Whether this level of support makes sense
You’ll leave with clarity about next steps, whether or not we work together.
What if this isn’t the right fit?
That’s okay.
Part of our work is helping families find the right next step. If this level of support isn’t appropriate, we’ll talk honestly about that.
Fit matters.
